How to Get Thousands of Visitors from Google Search By Kenneth Wilson, WiredBusinessDesign.com. Copright © 2009. All rights reserved. I essentially learned this method by accident while publishing an online magazine on extreme sports. I call this method of greatly increase site traffic in Google search, forecasting news. As mentioned a moment ago, one of the site's I operate is a sports magazine. It covers MMA events and other extreme sports. What I started doing was looking to see what the upcoming matches were between fighters and then writing articles about these events, weeks -- even months -- before the fights actually took place. Google of course had my articles well-indexed weeks / months in advance. So, when a fight took place, and thousands of people over the next 2 - 3 days jumped online to read about it, guess what they found on more than one occassion ... an article on my website listed high in Google search that talked about the fight they wanted to read about (of course, my articles only talked about the fighters and gave a prediction as to who would win... but still, the article landed tens of thousands of visitors in a short period of time). Once one or more of these fights took place, I had a writer put together a quick article on the events that had taken place, and added that to the site, with a link at the top of the article. This was the article that people on Google were clicking on and coming to my website. One of these articles on my site received over 27,000 visitors within a day or two after a major MMA event was televised on Spike TV. Forecasting News to Get High Rankings in Google Search Look closely at the subject being covered on your site, and then consider what kind of things are happening in that industry / topic. Do a search on Google news, for events that have recently taken place. Now do some deeper research. Read these news articles and learn what kind of things are going to be (or expected to be) taking place in the near future. Now write about these events. Don't write about these events as though they've already taken place, but do write about these events much in the way a newspaper reporter who's simply predicting trends or the next fad. Choose Titles and Headlines that Will Excite Readers Be sure to title, headline, and keyword your article in a way that will excite readers. As you come up with these headlines, think of yourself as a magazine editor who's trying to use colorful headlines in order to catch the attention of readers glancing at the magazine stand. Remember, as a general rule you only have a split-second to use headlines to grab a person's attention. Now pull them into the page with exciting descriptive text. It's thought that Google gives higher rankings to sites that keep people on a webpage longer than other sites can keep people.
What this likely shows Google is that people are finding the content that they are searching for. However, when a person goes to a webpage from Google, and then quickly hits their back button, this likely tells Google that they did not find the content that they were looking for. When this happens it's probable that a site can fall down the list in search rankings for specific keywords or phrases.
